There have been more than one B25 with the name "Poontang" or "Poon Tang." She was, however, part of the 5th Air Force, 345th BG and likely within the 498th or 499th Bombardment Squadron. This BG was known as the "Air Apaches" who were famous for their low-level 'strafer' tactics using the B25s modified with heavy forward-firing machine guns to attack Japanese shipping and airfields.
While many B25s were lost in combat or scrapped after the war, the specific fate of "Poon Tang" can vary by the exact serial number (again, as many bombers had the same nickname). Several aircraft from the 345th BG were lost during intense missions over the Philippines and later Japan. The vast majority of B25s that survived the war were flown to storage depots like Pyote, Texas or Kingman, Arizona and were eventually scrapped.
