“Tex” Hill’s Curtiss P-40E as it looked in May of 1942 as the AVG Flying Tigers transitioned into the 23rd Fighter Group of the USAAF. Hill would end the war a triple ace with 18.25 victories and was inducted in the National Aviation Hall of Fame in 2006
