P-6E Unit: 17th PS, 1st PG, USAAC Serial: 40

One of two classic biplane pursuits produced for the US Army, the Curtiss Hawk family evolved through a myriad of different variants. The P-6E was the final production machine, differing from other service Hawks by having single-strut undercarriage and an underbelly radiator. This example wears the spectacular but short lived 'snowy owl' scheme worn by aircraft of the 17th Pursuit Squadron, 1st Pursuit Group at Selfridge Field, Michigan.
