F-4 Phantom BuNo. 153019, VF-111 Sundowners
Flown by Robert "Hoot" Gibson. This is the airplane that Gibson flew his very first combat mission in, and his first sortie in the squadron. He joined the VF-111 Squadron in the Tonkin Gulf off Vietnam to replace a crew that was shot down. Later, the squadron Commander picked Gibson to be his pilot, so his name went on the front cockpit of aircraft 201 (the CO's airplane) since it was a back-seater.
This airplane was the VF-111's Mig-killer, having shot down a MIG-17 by Garry Weigand and Bill Freckleton.
